Birth of the Gambra Palace
The culmination of a dream
The Gambra Palace was born from a shared passion for Morocco, its landscapes and its traditions.
As a Swiss couple deeply attached to this country, we discovered a house in Skoura that was still unfinished, but already full of potential and emotion. In 2023, we chose to give it a new life.
A TRANSFORMATION DRIVED BY HIGH STANDARDS
The project then became a true human and architectural adventure: redevelopment of spaces, creation of terraces and outbuildings, work with rammed earth and traditional finishes, including tadelakt and zellige tiles.
Over the months, the gardens come to life, the volumes find their balance, and the Palace gradually acquires its identity. Every detail is meticulously considered, respecting the architecture and local traditions.
ORIGIN OF THE NAME
The name Gambra refers to the Barbary partridge, an emblematic bird once found in the Skoura oasis. A symbol of life and adaptation in arid environments, it perfectly represents the balance between nature and harshness that characterizes this region.
A HUMAN ADVENTURE
The Gambra Palace is first and foremost a collective work. Behind every wall, every terrace and every finish, there are women and men who have contributed their know-how, their energy and their passion.
Masons, plasterers, ironworkers, carpenters, tilers, craftsmen and members of our team have, over the months, shaped this place with patience and exacting standards.
To all those who participated in this adventure, we express our deepest gratitude. Their work, commitment, and expertise are now part of the history of the Palais Gambra.
Faissal, guardian of the premises and trusted man, has been present at the Gambra Palace since the works.
TRACES OF WORK
The worn shoes and gloves marked by the construction site are not mere objects. They bear witness to the efforts, patience, and work of those who participated in the creation of the Gambra Palace.
Modest, but precious traces of the human adventure that lies hidden behind every stone of the Palace.
